Serial Killer # 89 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

In Sandman # 14, a host of serial killers descend upon a quiet hotel for a convention for people who take pleasure in killing others.

This convention is eerily similar to other conventions, both professional and fan conventions in the sense that they have panels and discussions regarding a variety of topics relating to death and killing.

This particular serial killer attended the panel where The Corinthian was giving his guest of honor speech.

Morpheus confronted The Corinthian and ultimately uncreated him. Afterwards Dream spoke to the crowd and said that they all had sustained fantasies in which they are the heroes, but from that day forward their dreams are over and they will now know, at all times, exactly what they are and how little that means.

This man was standing in the background as The King Of Dreams put forth his judgement on the group of serial killers. He appears in Sandman # 14, on page 36 panel 1.

This is another great portrait from Max. I really like how he interpreted this character. I thought, in the published comic, that he looked a bit like J. Jonah Jameson from Spiderman comics, but ultimately Max created a character much more frightening. I love the cold expression on his face and his eyes seem lifeless and dead, which is incredibly creepy.
