Onmyoji’s Servant # 6 (illustrated by Nicole Ingram)

When the Monk was a young boy, living with his family, he found a monkey in the market place that was believed to be dead, but The Monk saw he was still alive and brought the animal home. He nursed the monkey back to good health and he became the family pet.

One day, a noble man, The Onmyoji, came to visit The Monk’s father. This day ended in death and tragedy as the monkey was killed and the Monk’s father was disgraced.

This is one of the Onmyoji’s servants.

This servant appears in the P. Craig Russell version of The Dream Hunters in issue # 2, on page 22, in panel 2. He is standing behind The Onmyoji, holding a banner.

Magician # 6 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

In 1939, Wesley Dodds visits England while investigating the suicide of his friend Linus Benchley.

His investigation leads him to Fawney Rig, the home of Roderick Burgess.

Dodds, attends a party thrown by Burgess and for the evening’s entertainment several magicians performed, filling the night with illusions and miracles.

This man is one of the magicians that performed at the Burgess party.

He appears in Sandman Midnight Theatre on page 43.

Dignitary # 181 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

In Endless Nights, Dream and his lover, Killalla Of The Glow, travel to a palace amongst the stars to attend the parliament concerning zones of responsibility and the merits of obligation for creation.

During the parliament, Kilalla wanders through the gardens. She was picking purple flowers when a group of dignitaries entered the plaza. She is greeted by Mizar, who explained that the meeting was suspended on a point of order.

This Dignitary is one of many who gathered in the plaza during the break from the meeting.

He appears in the background in Endless Nights, in the story, The Heart Of The Star, on page 11 in panel 2.

In P. Craig Russell’s Dream Hunters, when the Monk visits The King of Dreams, we see dreamers swimming within Morpheus’s cloak.

This woman is one of the dreamers within his cloak.

This dreamer appears in Dream Hunters # 2, on page 17 in panel 1.

After escaping The Eremite, Didi and Sexton have breakfast in a bagel restaurant and then go to a street market where Didi looks for a new ankh. She finds one at the table of a man selling jewelry. Next to this man is a woman selling hand-made dolls.

This Doll Sales Woman appears in Death: The High Cost Of Living # 3, on page 13, in panel 1.

In Dream Country, a group of cats meet in a cemetery, one evening, to listen to the tale of a wise storyteller cat who recounts her visit with the King Of Dreams and how dreams have the ability to change reality.

This is one of the cats that listened to the storyteller cat’s tale.

He appears in Sandman # 18, on page 4.

Customer At Lux # 11 and 12 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

In The Kindly Ones, Lyta Hall goes out to dinner with Eric Needham at an upscale restaurant called Lux, which is owned by Lucifer.

As they are eating dinner Lyta has a sudden urge to leave. She is concerned about her son, Daniel, and suspects that something bad is happening. She tries to convince Eric to let her leave but he suggests that Lyta call home as reassurance that everything is fine. Nobody answers the phone.

This man and woman are two of the customers of Lux. They are standing in the lobby as Lyta attemps to call home.

They appears in Sandman # 57, on page 24, in panel 1.

Nurse # 2 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

When Ellie Marsten wakes in 1988, seventy two years after she fell asleep, she is in a charity home for those suffering from the sleeping sickness. There are many other people in the same ward as she is.

This nurse is doing her rounds, caring for the people who are in this hospital, when the long sleeping patients begin waking.

He appears in Sandman # 1, on page 33, panel 3.

Kai did a great job with this portrait. I really like how her hair flows and the line work that comprises her hair.

Citizen Of Barbie’s World # 16 (illustrated by Hayden Sengua)

When Barbie was a young girl she dreamed of a magical world where she was a princess. As she grew older her dreams faded and she no longer visited this world.

Her world changed when she encountered one of her imaginary dream friends on the streets of New York.

That evening, when Barbie fell asleep she dreamed of this world once again and became trapped in the mystical dream by an emissary of The Cuckoo.

While in this Dream, Barbie had to confront the Cuckoo, which ultimately lead to the destruction of her world. This creature is one of the residents of Barbie’s World. He appears in only one panel and is seen leaving this world and entering Dream’s cloak to live on in the dreams of others.

This creature can be found in Sandman # 36, on page 34 in panel 1.

Boatswain (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

In the final issue of Sandman, William Shakespeare is writing his final play, The Tempest.

In the first act and first scene of the play the Boat Master and Boatswain are on the deck of the ship carrying Alonso, the King Of Naples, when they encounter a fierce storm created by Ariel, at the request of Prospero.

The Boatswain is a man who is in charge of running the ship and this character, in the play, was addressed only by his duty not with a proper name.

In Sandman # 75, this character appears on page 1 in panel 1.

Citizen Of Alain’s Court # 19 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

In Endless Nights, Alain’s and his court live a life beyond death because they locked their gates, preventing Death from visiting his island.

As time passes, Alain entertains his court with a variety of activities such as masquerades and letting his court watch him get squashed by a large bull elephant. Of course, on some days Alain announces that it’s a day of penitence and mortification.

On those days, a group of monks come to the palace and hear the confessions of the citizens of Alain’s court and after the confessions the penitents kneel and are flogged until their blood ran across the mosaic floor.

This man receives penance from the monks. He appears in Endless Nights, in the Death story on page 7 in panel 6.

After escaping from the Eremite a second time, Didi and Sexton spend the morning walking around the streets of New York.

Didi buys a new ankh from a sidewalk salesman.

Sexton asks Didi that, if she’s Death what happens when people die? Is there a Heaven and Hell or do people just blink away into non-existance.

Didi replies “If I was really Death, do you think I’d tell you?”

This man is walking behind Didi and Sexton and they head toward the park.

He appears in Death: The High Cost Of Living # 3, on page 14, in panel 4.

In Worlds’ End, Brant Tucker wandered the halls of the free house and found himself in a room with a man, who called himself a Seeker. He was trying to find the world where Prez Rickard beame the President Of The United States Of America.

Prez Rickard was an exceptional person and even as a boy he took pride in his country. He knew that when he was older he was destined to be President.

This student was one of Prez Rickard’s classmates when he was a young boy.

She appears in Sandman # 54, on page 3, in panel 3.

While in the club she realizes that she wants her family back, which means that she will need to locate Destruction, who has left his roles and responsibilities behind him.

This man is one of the people in the fetish club.

He appears in Sandman # 41 on page 10 in panel 1.

Slave # 8 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

While at his first Renaissance Faire, Hob Gadling and his girlfriend Guenevere talk about Hob’s “ancestors.” She mentioned to him that a man named Hinnegan uncovered that throughout history there were several Robert Gadling including a printer and publisher and one owned a fleet of ships.

These are, of course, Hob, having lived for several centuries and tried his hand at various occupations and trades.

Hob is distressed, remembering that while he owned the fleet of ships he was a slave trader and brought slaves to America. The English owned all the ships that brought the slaves to America. They would sell trade the slaves to the colonies for cotton and molasses, which they would bring to England. They would use the profits from the sales to purchase more slave.

When England made slave trading illegal and they were at risk of being boarded while in transit or if there was bad weather they would sometimes dump their cargo. The slaves were all chained together and so when one went overboard they would all quickly follow.

Hob is still haunted by nightmares of this.

Gwen doesn’t know that Hob is over 600 years old and was responsible for some of these actions. While she thinks that some things can just be forgotten, Hob is unable to do that.

This is one of the slaves from Hob’s memory.

He appears in Sandman # 73, on page 6, in panel 4.

Aurelian Palace Guard # 1 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

In Worlds’ End, Brant Tucker, along with his companion Charlene Mooney, are stuck in a Free House, while a storm rages outside.

Cluracan, who has already started drinking, tells the group gathered at his table about his visit to the city Aurelia.

He was sent to Aurelia by Titania to prevent a treaty between the city and the other cities of the plains. When he arrives, Cluracan is greeted by Brother Cabriolet.

Brother Cabroliet leads him through the city, past crumbling ruins, which were once majestic. Once arriving at the palace, presents him to Carnifex Carys XXXV, who offers him food and tells Cabroliet to take him to his room and have a guard assigned to his door, for his protection.

This Palace Guard is standing at the doorway to the palace when Cluracan and Brother Cabriolet arrive.

He appears in Sandman # 52 on pages 7, in panel 6.
