Demon # 316 (illustrated by Jeremy Haun)

When Morpheus decends into Hell to reclaim his stolen helm he encounters many demons in various shapes and sizes.

This is a very unique demon.

She appears in the fantastic double page spread, which features hundreds of demons. This demon may not be the easiest to spot. It is located near the tall column to the left.

This demon appears in Sandman # 4, on page 13.

Jeremy was drawing this while at a comic book convention and he mentioned that he shocked quite a few people who came up to look at his art and buy his comics.

Demon # 227 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

Dream journeys to Hell to recover his helm, which was stolen from him during his captivity.

Lucifer claims to know nothing about his helmet or who would have taken it.

Using the sand from his pouch, Dream is able to search the crowd to locate the demon that has his helmet.

This demon is in the crowd of demons.

He appears in Sandman # 4, on page 14 in panel 4.

Demon # 178 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

This is one of the Demons that appear in Ramadan, inside the Globe Of Sulaiman Ben Daoud, which Haroun al Raschid threatens to shatter if The King of Dreams does not appear before him.

If this globe is broken, nine thousand and nine Ifrits, Djinn and Demons will be released into the world and cause untold chaos.

This demon is one of the many demons imprisoned within the globe.

You can find this Demon in Sandman # 50, on page 17, in panel 4.

Citizen Of Alain’s Court # 2 (illustrated by Carl Sciacchitano)

Alain, whose court and people lived one long day, over and over, decided that he wanted to be crushed to death by a bull elephant with two beautiful virgins at the moment of orgasm.

He struggled to decide whether this act should be at either the beginning or the end of the night’s festivities. Before asking his wife, he asked several other members of his court.

After the event occurred this man proclaimed that the execution of the orgasmic crushing was something new and should be applauded.

He appears in Endless Nights, in the Death In Venice story on page 3 in panel 7.

Cat # 42 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

In Endless Nights, we get a glimpse of 15 portraits of Despair. One of my favorite and most difficult to read involves cats.

The story tells us about a man who loves cats and lives in a trailer. He adopts stray cats and eventually he has sixty or maybe seventy cats living with him in the trailer. One day the man leaves to take a job and is unable to return to feed the cats.

This is one of the saddest and most horrific stories in Endless Nights.

This cat is one of those cats.

The cat appears in Endless Nights (on page 85), in 15 Portraits of Despair, on page 6, in panel 3.

Baseball Fan # 5 (illustrated by Nicole Ingram)

Prez, no longer having the same excitement for his presidency after the death of Kathy, spent more time in the White House and did not attend as many events as he had previously.

One evening he was watching a baseball game and Boss Smiley appeared in his television, once again offering Prez anything he wanted, even the return of his deceased wife, if he would only serve him.

This Baseball Fan was one of many people watching the game at the stadium. He was on the television briefly prior to Boss Smiley hijacking the program.

He appears in Sandman # 54, on page 14 in panel 7.

Bar Patron # 56 (illustrated by Hayden Sengua)

Dream and Hob began meeting every hundred years sometime between 1362-1370, developing their friendship over the centuries. In the early 1990’s Dream and Hob meet once again in a pub.

There are a lot of similar conversations and situations happening in 1990 as there were in the 1300’s, showing that some things never change.

This man is standing at the back of the room near the bar.

He appears in Sandman # 13 on page 24 in the first panel.

Citizen Of Baghdad # 73 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

Haroun al Raschid threatens to shatter the Globe Of Sulaiman Ben Daoud, which contains nine thousand and nine Ifrits, Dijinn and Demons unless the King Of Dreams comes to him.

He throws the globe, but Morpheus arrives just as the globe is about to hit the ground.

Haroun al Raschid attempts to make a bargain with Morpheus, but he reminds al Raschid that bargains are best done In the soukh, the marketplace.

The marketplace is crowded and full of people, including this man.

Morpheus and Haroun al Raschid go to the marketplace and it is there that the bargain is explained. Haroun al Raschid wants Baghdad to be remembered as a city of splendor and wonders.

This citizen of Baghdad appears in Sandman # 50, on page 25, in panel 3.

Undercut Patron # 42 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

Didi and Sexton spend the afternoon wandering around New York around New York and end up that evening at a club called The Undercut.

The concert is the first show Foxglove performs. A few years later she will become an international success.

Hazel, who used to work for Sexton’s mother, gets Didi and Sexton into the show for free.

Before the show starts everyone attending is waiting around the stage and talking with friends.

This man is at the show and is waiting for the show to start.

He appears in Death: The High Cost Of Living # 2, on page 9, in panel 3.

Small Mindless Insect-Like Creature # 1 (illustrated by Jeremy Haun)

On a small planet within a star system with six other planets there are three dominant life forms. There were a race of humanoid creatures with red fur, huge carnivorous plants with limited mobility and this creature.

These small mindless insect-like creatures are described as interested in only laying eggs and food. They swarm when the mood takes them and are able to take on “shapes capable of making art or exploring the solar system.”

This is one of those small insects.

It appears in Sandman Overture # 1, on page 1, in panel 3.

Soap Opera Actress # 1 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

In the 6th chapter of Preludes And Nocturnes, John Dee, who recently escaped from Arkham Asylum, spends his day in a 24 hour diner.

He asks Betsy, the waitress, if he can watch tv. He watches a soap opera called Secret Hearts. In this episode we learn that a soap opera actress married her dentist and tha tone of the main characters is a Siamese Twin who is HIV positive.

This soap opera actor appears in Sandman # 6, on page 7, in panel 4.

Middle Eastern Man # 2 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

In Worlds’ End, Brant Tucker is stuck in Worlds’ End as a storm rages outside.

He wanders through the inn and encounters a man called The Seeker who tells him about a reality where Prez Rickard is the President Of The United States.

Prez became the youngest President Of The United States and surprised many people with the amount of work he did during his presidency.

During his first year as President he initiated talks in the Middle East.

This Middle Eastern man is one of the men who attended the meeting with the American politicians during the talks.

He appears in Sandman # 54, on page 10, in panel 1.

Astrologer # 3 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

In Baghdad, in the time of Haroun al Raschid, there were many wonders and splendors. There were enchanters and powers and musicians. There were mechanical wonders that imitated life and there were men with the heads of animals and animals that could speak like men.

There were astrologers within his palace who could interpret the will of Allah from the by the movement and placement of the stars.

This astrologer can be seen in Sandman # 50, on page 4, in panel 1.

Deputy From The Palazzo # 3 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

The day following Alain’s fantastic party in which he was crushed to death by a bull elephant while having sex with two virgins it was announced that it would be a day of penitence and mortification.

On this day a Deputation from the Palazzo visited the monastery and returned to Alain’s court with a troupe of Monks who heard the confessions then flogged the naked backs of the citizens of the court.

This man is one of the deputies from Alain’s palazzo who went to the monastery to retrieve the monks.

He appears in Endless Nights, in Death In Venice, on page 6, in panel 3.

Funland’s Victim # 2 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

Rose Walker and Gilbert find themselves at a hotel hosting a Cereal convention, while trying to locate her missing brother, Jed.

They do not know that the Cereal convention is a convention for serial killers.

Funland, one of the serial killers, spots Rose and attacks her in her room.

Gilbert had given her a piece of paper with a name on it and told her that “if things get bad, call the name.”

When Funland attempts to rape Rose, she grasps the paper and speaks the name on the paper.

“Morpheus.”

Dream tells Funland to release Rose and causes him to sleep.

Funland dreams that all of his “little friends,” which are his victims come to play with him. Funland apologizes for hurting them and, in his dream, the children forgive him.

It is the most wonderful dream Funland has ever had.

This little girl is one of Funland’s victims.

She appears in Sandman # 14, on page 31, in panel 4.

White Grub Thing # 4 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

While trying to avoid The Black Guard and the Cuckoo’s minions, Barbie and her friends discover the body of Tantoblin.

She recalls when she first met the Tantoblin.

Barbie and Martin Tenbones were on their way to the Arch Of The Porpentine when they were attacked by these White Grub Things. Barbie described them as Fat Children.

These White Grub Things appear in Sandman # 35, on page 5, in panel 1.

Wanda’s Classmate # 1 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

When George unleashed the starlings in order to consume Thessaly, Wanda, Hazel and Foxglove. While each of the women dreamed the starlings landed on their intended victims.

Wanda dreamed that she was trying to buy a dress and some of her classmates tell her how they were so envious of her. The dream then transformed into a nightmare about her favorite comic book characters when she was younger.

Wanda’s classmate appears in Sandman # 33, on page 12, in panel 3.

Roman Citizen # 115 (illustrated by Hayden Sengua)

Augustus Caesar and the dwarf Lycius spend the day sitting on some steps near the marketplace dressed as beggars. As citizens pass they discuss politics, power, personal legacy and dreams. This citizen is spending the afternoon in the Roman market near the steps where Caesar and Lycius are sitting.

He appears in one of the panels that contains a large number of other Roman citizens, which is visually amazing, but incredibly crowded with Roman Citizens.

This panel is in Sandman # 30, page 13, and is panel 4.

Protester # 4 (illustrated by John Rapone)

Prez Rickard was an incredibly popular president and when his second term was nearing its end, many supporters began protesting the fact that Prez would soon be leaving office. These protestors proposed that the law be changed to permit Prez to run a third term.

This man is one of the people protesting in front of the White House.

He appears in Sandman # 54, on page 16 in panel 1.

Onmyoji’s Demon Servant # 12 (illustrated by Carl Sciacchitano)

The Onmyoji was afraid, and the fear drove him to seek forbidden knowledge in hopes of driving out that fear.

It did not work, and potentially caused even more fear.

In the outskirts of his city there were three women who loved in an old run-down house. The one of the women was young, one was old and the third was neither young nor old. He visited these three women to seek advice on finding peace and a release from the fear. They provided him with a way to gain the strength of a monk in the mountain who feared and desired nothing.

The Onmyoji had to perform a ritual in order to kill the Monk, but needed some personal objects of the monk in order to complete the rite.

The Onmyoji sent his demon servants into the mountains in order to steal a few items that the Monk had touched.

This is one of the demons who was sent to gather the belongings of the Monk.

He appears in P. Craig Russell’s Dream Hunters # 2, on page 12, in panel 6.

Aurelian Citizen # 2 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

When Clurican arrives in Aurelia he is brought before Carnifex Carys XXXV as an envoy of Faery.

As he walks through the chamber to approach the Carnifex he cannot help but notice a large group of people on either side of the walkway all asking the ruler for his favor or judgment in a dispute.

This is one of the men trying to petition the Carnifex.

This man appears in Sandman # 52, on page 8, in panel 1.

In Dream Country, a group of cats meet in a cemetery, one evening, to listen to the tale of a wise storyteller cat who recounts her visit with the King Of Dreams and how dreams have the ability to change reality.

This is one of the cats that listened to the storyteller cat’s tale.

He appears in Sandman # 18, on page 4.

As John Dee, inside his dream reality, attempts to destroy Morpheus, dreamers all over the world had troubled sleep. They whimpered and moaned and even screamed “as if caught in the darkest of nightmares.”

This is one of the dreamers who had was affected by John Dee’s hatred and chaos.

Resident Of The Dreaming # 12 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

After a family gathering, Dream decides that perhaps he was a bit rash in condemning Nada, his one-time lover, to Hell for spurning his affection.

He gathers together the residents of his realm to let them know he is about to go to Hell in an attempt to rescue Nada.

This is one of the people who gathered to listen to Dream.

He appears in Sandman # 22, on page 4, in panel 4.
