Reveler At The Burgess Party # 26 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

Wesley Dodds visited Endland in 1939, trying to solve the mysterious death of one of his old friends, Linus Benchly. While there he attended a party thrown by Roderick Burgess, hoping to unravel the mystery. Dian Belmont, his lover, was also at the party trying to help her friend Anabel solve a mystery of her own. While at the party Dian also runs into Reverend Hawsley.

This man is one of the people attending the party.

He appeared in Sandman Mystery Theatre # 1 on page 39, panel 8.

Silverstein (illustrated by Nicole Ingram)

Merv Pumpkinhead has several bat helpers that follow him around throughout The Kindly Ones.

He appears when Merv is working and Matthew stops to talk to him about previous ravens.

The bat helpers appear again when Merv and Abudah are moving a volcano.

Silverstein and the other bat helpers appear a third time when Merv is preparing to launch an assault on The Kindly Ones.

Silverstein appears in Sandman # 57, 60, and 66.

Harvey (illustrated by Lars Brown)

Richard Madoc made a deal with Erasmus Fry, an elderly author, to give him the muse Calliope in exchange for a bezoar. Richard needed a muse to help him with his writers block.

Once Richard took possession of and raped Calliope, he began writing again.

His second book was released in May 1987 and was successful.

In June 1987 he met Harvey discussing the movie rights to his book. He told Harvey that the only way he would write the screenplay for the movie would be if he could direct the movie as well. Harvey told him that it would be impossible.

In April 1989, after continued success, Harvey and Richard have another conversation, in which Harvey tells him that the film company has agreed to his initial offer to write and direct the film version of one of his books. Richard tells him that it’s too late because he has already signed a three-film deal in the US.

Harvey appears in Sandman # 17, on page 12, panel 2 and on page 13, panel 2.

Handicapped Kid # 1 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

Urania Blackwall lives alone in a dark apartment. She never leaves her house. Her only connection to the outside world is a man names Mulligan who is her contact with The Company.

One day, out of the blue, she received a phone call from an old co-worker, Della Kariakis (formerly Della Porter). Della invites her for lunch at a restaurant called Da Vinci in the mall. Urania prepares for her lunch date by making a silicate mask that resembled her face prior to her transformation.

When Urania meets Della for lunch, she learns that Della has a secret pregnancy that she cannot share with anyone from the company due to the illicit nature of the relationship with the father, who is a married man with the company.

As they prepare to eat lunch a group of handicapped kids pass by with their teachers. Della comments that she hopes her baby is not a freak like them. When Urania tried to defend the children Della explains that they make her skin crawl.

At this moment Urania’s mask falls off, into her spaghetti and Urania runs out of the restaurant, upset.

This boy is one of the handicapped kids who pass by the restaurant as Urania and Della are eating lunch.

He appears in Sandman # 20, on page 10, in panel 5.

Citizen Of Baghdad # 25 (illustrated by Hayden Sengua)

During the time of Haroun al Raschid, Baghdad was a city of splendor.

Occassionally al Raschid and his trusted advisor Jafar and his executioner Masrur would walk through the marketplace sampling the foods and taking in the sights.

This man was one of the people in the marketplace.

He appears in Sandman # 50, on page 7, in panel 1.

Bar Patron # 16 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

In The Doll’s House, we are introduced to Hob Gadling, who throughout the centuries, became one of Dream’s only friends.

Dream and Hob began their centennial meeting somewhere between 1362-1370.

This man was in the pub during their second meeting, which would have been sometime around 1462-1470. He was sitting at a table with another man playing cards.

This Bar Patron appears in Sandman # 13, on page 7, in panel 3.

Cat # 27 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

In Dream Country, a group of cats meet in a cemetery, one evening, to listen to the tale of a wise storyteller cat who recounts her visit with the King Of Dreams and how dreams have the ability to change reality.

The wise Siamese cat traveled to The Dreaming and was told that one time cats ruled the world. They were larger and humans served them. After a time, a golden haired man started telling other humans that dreams shape the world and that if enough people dream then they can change reality. His message spread and one day enough people dreamed of human dominance and the next day things had changed.

In the new reality cats were tiny and became pets or lived as stray animals in alleys and on the streets.

This cat is one of the stray cats that lived in an alley among the garbage cans, competing for food and territory.

This cat appears in Sandman # 18, on page 18, in panel 4.

Awards Ceremony Audience Memember # 2 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

After trading Erasmus Fry a Bezioar for Calliope, Richard Madoc became a successful writer and a notable celebrity.

Richard Madoc won awards and this man was in attendance at one of the award ceremonies where Richard spoke.

This woman appears in Sandman # 17 on page 13 in panel 1. She is sitting in the front row close to the stage.

Bondage Boy # 8 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

In Brief Lives, Delirium is lost and wanders into a bondage club.

In the club she encounters a woman named Lisa who looks a little like Death. Once she realizes that this woman is not her sister she becomes agitated and starts screaming that she wants her sister.

Desire comes to the aid of his/her sister.

This man is one of the people in the crowd as Desire comes to Delirium’s aid.

He can be seen in Sandman # 41, on page 11, in panel 4.

Aurelian Citizen # 34 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

When Cluracan is sent to Aurelia to prevent an alliance between the people of the cities of the plains, he expected to see a city of wonder and majesty. Instead he found the city had fallen into poverty and the citizens destitute.

Cluracan is met by Brther Cabriolet and escorted to the palace.

This Aurelian Citizen is one of the men he sees as he enters the city.

He appears in Sandman # 52, on page 7, in panel 1.

Necropolis Student # 7 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

In the fifth chapter of Worlds’ End, Petrefax recounts his tale to the others sitting around the table in the inn.

He began his story by saying that he would often spend his days in school staring out the window at the city of the Necropolis Litharge and dream about the worlds beyond the mountains.

As a result, he would sometimes get called out and made an example of in class.

At the end of his lesson he was told my Klaproth that he had to attend an Air Burial and report back to the class.

As Petrefax is leaving class he is talking to Lystra about his assignment and behind him to other students are talking as they walk down the stairs.

This is one of the students.

She appears in Sandman # 55 on Page 5 in panel 3.

Roman Citizen # 127 (illustrated by Te’Shawn Dwyer)

Augustus Caesar and the dwarf Lycius spend the day sitting on some steps near the marketplace dressed as beggars. As citizens pass they discuss politics, power and personal legacy.

This citizen is spending the afternoon in the Roman market near the steps where Caesar and Lycius are sitting.

He appears in one of the panels that contains a large number of other Roman citizens, which is visually amazing, but incredibly crowded with Roman Citizens.

This panel is in Sandman # 30, page 13, and is panel 4.

Man # 146 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

In Worlds’ End, Mister Gaheris recounts a story he is told about a man named Robert who loved cities.

This man appears in that story and is sitting on a subway as Robert commutes from the city suburbs to work.

He appears in Sandman # 51, on page 10, in panel 4.

Baku # 15 (illustrated by Hayden Sengua)

After discovering the plans of the Onmyoji, the Fox took a jade dragon and threw it into the ocean as an offering to the King Of Dreams. That evening as the Fox slept she visited The Dreaming and found herself standing before The Dream King.

The Fox asked Dream what the creatures are that she noticed in the distance. Dream told her that they were Baku, the dream eaters.

The Fox had heard of the Baku. If a Dreamer wakes of a nightmare or a dream of ill-omen, the Dreamer may call upon the Baku to eat the dream and all that it foretells away.

She asks what would happen if she caught one of the Backu after it had consumed a dream.

The King Of Dreams responded with silence.

This is one of the Baku that grazes in the distant regions of The Dreaming.

The Baku appear in the P. Craig Russel version of Dream Hunters…in issue # 1, on page 33, in panel 5.
