Dour Chap # 2 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

After spending the day writing his final play, William Shakespeare goes to The House Of The Barley And The Grape, which is a small inn.

When Shakespeare arrives two dour chaps are sitting at a table. One remarks that Shakespeare is a plague-crow. When asked why the dour chap says “The cause of the plague is sin. The cause of sin is plays. This plays cause plagues. Ergo those who cause plays, well, they are the veriest plague-crows.”

This dour chap is sitting with another man and does not, initially, understand why the other man called Shakespeare a plague-crow.

He appears in Sandman # 75, on page 6, in panel 1.
