Woman # 36 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

When Roderick Burgess died, his son, Alex, took over the Burgess empire.

In 1968, people would come to his home seeking enlightenment. He would teach them about Kundalini, yoga, tantric sex, astral travel, and other things that were, honestly, insignificant.

While at his home, he forbids the use of psychedelic or hallucinogenic drugs, fearing that they may somehow empower the imprisoned Dream King.

This woman is one of the people who visited the Burgess house hoping to find illumination.

She appears in Sandman # 1, on page 23, in panel 1 and 2.

I really like this portrait from Kai. He managed to draw this character in such a way that gives her the impression that she is from the late 60’s and early 70’s.

Here is Woman # 36…
