Clarice and Barnaby emotionally and physically abused Jed. He was forced to spend a lot of time in their basement with the rats.
Jed started escaping into his dreams, where Brute and Glob had created a new Dream world.
Jed helped Hector and Lyta Hall fight villians and go on adventures.
One of the villians they encountered was The Spooky Bird.
The Spooky Bird attacked Jed by tickling his hands, forcing him to let go of The Sandman’s hand, and fall.
Jed woke up as he was falling.
The Spooky Bird appears in Sandman # 11, on page 4.
