Boatswain (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

In the final issue of Sandman, William Shakespeare is writing his final play, The Tempest.

In the first act and first scene of the play the Boat Master and Boatswain are on the deck of the ship carrying Alonso, the King Of Naples, when they encounter a fierce storm created by Ariel, at the request of Prospero.

The Boatswain is a man who is in charge of running the ship and this character, in the play, was addressed only by his duty not with a proper name.

In Sandman # 75, this character appears on page 1 in panel 1.
