Old Man # 1 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

When Ellie Marsten wakes, she is in a charity home for those suffering from the sleeping sickness. There are many other people in the same ward as she is.

This old man is one of the people that shared the hospital wing with Ellie Marsten.

He appears in Sandman # 1, on page 33, panel 3. He is in the upper left corner, mostly a silhouette. This is another great portrait from Max. I really like the line work on his face and his use of white out to add highlights.
