The Corinthian

Well, my week of creepy characters was unfortunately interrupted when my computer decided that it wasn't going to turn on.

Sorry about that...

So....to celebrate the return I've decided to start off Monday with two of the scariest nightmares of The Dreaming. The Corinthian is, according to Morpheus, a dark mirror of humanity.

The first Corinthian was created long before even Orpheus was born and served the king of dreams until Morpheus was captured by Roderick Burgess. The Corinthian left The Dreaming in the 1940's and walked the mortal world, becaming quite the legend among serial killers. He was even the guest of honor at the Cereal Convention.

As Morpheus uncreated The Corinthian he reflected that perhaps it was his own fault that The Corinthian was flawed, wishing to infect humanity the joy of death and fear.

Morpheus kept the skull of The Corinthian in a closet within his palace.

Many years later Morpheus decided it was time to recreate The Corinthian. While talking to Matthew Morpheus says "Imagine that you woke in the night and rose and seemed to see before you another person, whom slowly you perceived to be yourself. Someone had entered in the night and placed a mirror in your sleeping place, made of a black metal. You had been frightened only of your reflection. But then the reflection slowly raised one hand, while your own hand stayed still...A dark mirror...That was always the intention....But the gulf between conception and execution is wide, and many things can happen on the way."

He admits that the original Corinthian was flawed. He is determined that the second Corinthian will not be.

Here are both versions of The Corinthian.

I like how the first Corinthian is wearing red, to signify blood, while the second, more benevolent Corinthian is wearing blue.

I hope you enjoy them.
