The Mortician (illustrated by Kai Martin)

Petrefax, under the instruction of his teacher Klaproth, is assigned to partake in an air burial on the lower reaches of Mount Calamon. The air burial was being performed by Master Hermas and his two apprentices Mig and Scoyle.

At the air burial, each person attending the burial must tell a story and Hermas told the story of his apprentiship under Mistress Veltis.

Mistress Veltis told Hermas and Klaproth several stories one stormy night when they could not sleep.

One of the stories she told them a story about a mortician who outwitted a giant and inherited a kingdom.

We do not get to hear the story, unfortunately, only a mention of it in Hermas story.

This is the mortician who outwitted the giant. He appears in Sandman # 55, on page 19, in panel 6.
