Carnifex Carys XXXV is not a nice guy.
In the second chapter of Worlds' End we hear the story of Cluracan traveling to the city of Aurelia as an envoy to the faery kingdom.
Things do not go well for Cluracan and he is imprissoned by Carifex Carys XXXV (also known as Psychopomp Innocent XI as well as Mairon, his birth name).
As the events of the story unfold, Carnifex Carys XXXV is forced to hide in the tombs of the previous Psychopomps due to an uprising of the citizens of Aurelia. It was in the tombs it is revealed that Cluracan orchestrated the uprising and that the predecessor of Carnifex Carys XXXIV wants revenge for the murder of his son (killed by Carys XXXV to gain the throne). The mummified corpse of Carnifex Carys XXXIV pushes Carys XXXV out of the tower window and he calls to his death.
The dogs and rats feast on his body, which seems like a suitable end to Carnifex Carys XXXV.
