Demon # 31
Scott has really be into drawing the demons lately and today I present one of the most recent demons he's drawn.
When Scott first showed this to me I didn't immediately recognize him, which was surprising since I've been inspecting each page of the Sandman series for even the most obscure characters. I immediately pulled our Preludes and Nocturnes to try to find this character and within seconds I found him.
Scott did a fantastic job interpreting this character. He took a character that is barely visible within a sea of demons and gave the demon his own life, which is one of the major reasons why I thought this project would be cool in the first place.
Now the trick is...can you find him? I'll give you a hint. He's on the double page spread. Good luck!!!

Demon # 58
Today is the second day of Comic Con International in San Diego and unfortunately we couldn't make it down there this year.
So...as a treat for all the people who could not attend Comic Con I am posting up another demon today.
Like the previous demon, this one is also in Preludes and Nocturnes.
Can you find him?

Demon # 54
It's another wonderful Wednesday and today I thought we'd celebrate with a demon.
This demon is from Preludes And Nocturnes.
Can you find him?
I love this guy. The teeth, big eye and all that hair!!! He's a cutie!!!
On a side note, all of the demons have been numbered at random. This demon is the 54th demon I found while making my ultimate character list.
Anyone want to guess how many demons I found?
Have a happy Wednesday!

Doctor Destiny
Today Scott gave me the his latest portrait and I liked it so much I thought I'd post it ahead of a few that I got last week.
Doctor Destiny was originally a Justice League Of America super villain but Gaiman incorporated the character into the first Sandman storyline. Doctor Destiny fought the JLA many times and before his final battle, he used the ruby of Morpheus as a weapon. Doctor Destiny's power over the dream stone grew and became so strong that the only way the JLA was able to stop him from his mad quest was to hypnotize him and manipulate his mind preventing him from dreaming. The JLA locked him in Arkham Asylum.
In Preludes And Nocturnes, John Dee is still in Arkham Asylum, but after his mother dies, he escapes to get the ruby that was taken away from him. Once he regains the ruby he causes a great deal of chaos for humanity. One small example of this havok is in the horrific and fantastic issue called "24 Hours" (Issue # 6). It was only when Dream destroyed the ruby that Doctor D's control of dreams was ended. Dream then returned John Dee to Arkham Asylum where he belonged.
For those of you who like a bit of trivia, Doctor D appears in one panel of The Wake. Can you find him?

Fun Land
Fun Land is the first of many serial killers Scott will be drawing!!!
Fun Land appears in The Doll's House in attendance at the Cereal Convention. He is a pretty disturbing character and has a fascination for young children and apparently targets them at amusement parks. He's definitely not one of the good guys. When he decides to attack Rose Walker, she manages to whisper the name Morpheus and Dream rescues her from an unfortunate fate.
I've read the Sandman series at least 20-25 times and since The Doll's House is one of my favorite storylines I may have read it more than some of the others. Strangely, it was in my latest reading, for this project, that I discovered that Fun Land's real name was revealed as Nathan Diskin.
Anyway, here's Funland.

Brute and Glob
During Dream's imprisonment, Brute and Glob left the Dreaming and attempted to create their own Dreamworld inside the head of Jed Walker, the missing brother of Rose Walker. Things did not really turn out the way they had hoped once Dream discovered what was happening and decided to confront his former Nightmares.
Scott decided to tackle Brute and Glob and did a perfect job. Brute is fantastic and Glob...well, he just may be my favorite of the bunch (and I've seen several that you haven't yet).
When Scott gave me Glob this afternoon he told me that it was sort of a self portrait because he had a really bad week and so he felt that a part of him came through into his drawing of the character. I'm not sure what he's talking about. I don't think he looks much like Scott at all. For one thing Scott wears glasses and has a beard and his teeth aren't nearly as sharp. Also, Scott doesn't have flies buzzing around him...at least not when we meet. I hardly see any resemblance at all, but if you know Scott, I'll let you decide.
