Roman Citizen # 128 (illustrated by Carl Sciacchitano)

Augustus Caesar and the dwarf Lycius spend the day sitting on some steps near the marketplace dressed as beggars. As citizens pass they discuss politics, power and personal legacy.

This citizen is spending the afternoon in the Roman market near the steps where Caesar and Lycius are sitting.

He appears in one of the panels that contains a large number of other Roman citizens, which is visually amazing, but incredibly crowded with Roman Citizens.

This panel is in Sandman # 30, page 13, and is panel 4.

This is a fantastic portrait from Carl. This is probably one of my favorites he’s done so far. I really like that he chose to interpret this character as a woman. I really like the shape of her face. The gray marker that he used feels perfect for this character. It makes the portrait seem aged, in a strange way, which I like. I also like that he included some Roman temples in the background. That was a nice touch.

Man # 16 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

Destiny is the focus of one of the stories in Endless Nights and we get a short glimpse of the mysterious character.

Destiny’s book contains all of the history that has ever happened, that is happening and that will happen, for every person and creature with the entire universe.

This man is one of the many people that appear on the 5th page of this story. He is not necessarily a character, but more of a representation of everyone who appears within the pages of Destiny’s book.

Dignitary # 19 (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

Dream and his lover, Killalla Of The Glow, attend the parliament concerning zones of responsibility and the merits of obligation for creation.

Dignitaries from various planets, realms and realities gather to be a part of this important meeting.

This Dignitary is one of many who gathered at the palace. She is in the background talking to another dignitary as Kilalla and Desire pass by talking about she had met Dream.

She appears in the background in Endless Nights, in the story, The Heart Of The Star, on page 5 in panel 5.

Dead Man # 65 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

When Orpheus enters The Underworld to rescue his recently deceased wife he stands before Lord Hades and Queen Persephone and sings a song about love and grief.

This song makes the dead cry and disrupts the natural order of The Underworld.

This dead man appears in The Sandman Special # 1, on page 35, in panel 2. He is listening to Orpheus’ song.

The Emperor’s Man # 2 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

In Dream Hunters, a Badger and a Fox make a wager and attempt to force a young Monk to leave his temple.

The Badger disguises itself as a group of men, claiming to have been sent by the Emperor to request the presence of the Monk at the Imperial court.

This man is one of the “men” who appeared as one of the Emperor’s Men.

The monk refused to leave his temple and asked why the Emperor would send a badger to tell him to come to the imperial court.

The badger sulked away in defeat.

This man appears in Dream Hunters on page 4 and 6 (in text) and 7 (in painting).

Woman # 45 (illustrated by Te’Shawn Dwyer)

One evening, Richard Madoc, a celebrated author, was confronted by Dream who demanded the release of his prisoner, Calliope. When Madoc refused, his life began to spiral out of control.

On his way to a party, Richard stopped by a newspaper stand to buy a Time Out and Standard. The first of the neverending flow of ideas began crashing through his mind as he attempted to buy the paper.

This is woman was one of the people who witnessed Richard Madoc’s first moments of his severe inundation of ideas. He fell to his knees, overwhelmed, as this woman watched the horror unfold.

He appears in Sandman # 17, on page 19, in panel 5.

Onmyoji’s Demon Servant # 8 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

In Dream Hunters, the Onmyoji plots to kill the Monk who lives in the small mountain temple.

One night, while the Fox was out hunting she came across some demons quietly talking in the forest. The Fox lay on the ground and played dead in order to hear the plans these demons recounted.

They spoke of the Onmyoji’s plans to send the Monk three nights of evil dreams and on the third night he would lose his connection to reality and die from lack of food and water.

This Demon appears in the P. Craig Russell version of Dream Hunters in # 1 on pages 22-24.
