Undercut Patron # 17 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

In Death: The High Cost Of Living, Didi and Sexton spend the afternoon wandering around New York around New York and end up that evening at a club called The Undercut.

The concert is the first show Foxglove performs. A few years later she will become an international success.

As Didi and Sexton approach the club in the taxi, this man is walking toward the line as people enter the club.

He appears in Death: The High Cost Of Living # 2 on page 7 in panel 3.

White Grub Thing # 5 (illustrated by Nicole Ingram)

While trying to avoid The Black Guard and the Cuckoo’s minions, Barbie and her friends discover the body of Tantoblin.

She recalls when she first met the Tantoblin.

Barbie and Martin Tenbones were on their way to the Arch Of The Porpentine when they were attacked by these White Grub Things. Barbie described them as Fat Children.

These White Grub Things appear in Sandman # 35, on page 5, in panel 1.

Teenage Girl In South Africa (illustrated by Anna Hybsier)

In the 8th chapter of The Kindly Ones, we catch a glimpse of Dream’s work throughout the week.

On Moonday he visited the dreams of a teenage girl in South Africa.

Dream was asked to send a dream of warning to this young woman. With this dream she would inspire her to grow up and take charge of her country and to unify all the divided factions. Without this dream she would have grown up to be a nurse.

This teenage girl appears in Sandman # 64 on page 2 in panel 4.

Citizen Of Baghdad # 77 (illustrated by Kai Martin)

Haroun al Raschid threatens to shatter the Globe Of Sulaiman Ben Daoud, which contains nine thousand and nine Ifrits, Dijinn and Demons unless the King Of Dreams comes to him.

He throws the globe, but Morpheus arrives just as the globe is about to hit the ground.

Haroun al Raschid attempts to make a bargain with Morpheus, but he reminds al Raschid that bargains are best done In the soukh, the marketplace.

The marketplace is crowded and full of people, including this man.

Morpheus and Haroun al Raschid go to the marketplace and it is there that the bargain is explained. Haroun al Raschid wants Baghdad to be remembered as a city of splendor and wonders.

This citizen of Baghdad appears in Sandman # 50, on page 25, in panel 3.

Cat # 26 (illustrated by Lars Brown)

In Dream Country, a group of cats meet in a cemetery, one evening, to listen to the tale of a wise storyteller cat who recounts her visit with the King Of Dreams and how dreams have the ability to change reality.

The wise Siamese cat travelled to The Dreaming and was told that one time cats ruled the world. They were larger and humans served them. After a time, a golden haired man started telling other humans that dreams shape the world and that if enough people dream then they can change reality. His message spread and one day enough people dreamed of human dominance and the next day things had changed.

In the new reality cats were tiny and became pets or lived as stray animals in alleys and on the streets.

This cat is one of the stray cats that lived in an alley amongst the garbage cans, competing for food and territory.

This cat appears in Sandman # 18, on page 18, in panel 4.

Dead Man # 24 (illustrated by Andy Fish)

After the death of his beloved wife, Orpheus travels to the Underworld, hoping to reclaim his lost love.

As he moves further through the Underworld he begins to encounter the dead.

This Dead Man is one of the many that resides in the Underworld and encounters Orpheus when he stands before Lord Hades and Queen Persephone and implores them to return Eurydice to him.

He appears in The Sandman Special # 1, on page 31, in panel 5.

Baku # 18 (illustrated by Max Rugers)

There is a tale that is told about a Monk and a Fox. Perhaps it is a fairy tale and perhaps a Monk and a Fox really fell in love and when the Monk was murdered the Fox took revenge for the death of her lover.

We will never know for sure, but it has been said that sometimes if you dream and journey to the distant regions of the dreaming where the Baku graze you might catch a glimpse of a Man and a fox walking across the plains…

This is one of the Baku that grazes in the distant regions of The Dreaming.

The Baku appear in the P. Craig Russel version of Dream Hunters…in issue # 4, on page 29, in panel 1.
