This Aurelian Citizen is standing on the steps of one of the glorious temples of Aurelia that Cluracan remembers from his previous visit to the once glorious city.
He appears in Sandman # 52, on page 3.

This man assumed this role as a tortured resident of Hell…waiting to be consumed for all eternity by this monstrous demon’s insatiable appetite.
This tortured man appears in Sandman # 28, on page 21 in panel 2.
These red furred humanoids believe that their planet is alone in the universe.
This is one of the red furred humanoids. He appears in Sandman: Overture # 1, on page 1 in panel 2.
It is not known where they came from or how they were called to The Dreaming, but they came.
They are described as larger than eagles and older than Gods. They waited in the shadows for the dead to start filling the fields.
This Raven appears in Sandman # 64 on page 13, panel 5.
This man is one of the guests at the movie premiere. He is sitting near the back of the panel. He’s looking down slightly, which makes me wonder if he is a fill reviewer or perhaps he just isn’t paying attention to the movie.
He appears in Death: The Time Of Your Life # 2, on page 2 in panel 2.
In the club she encounters a woman named Lisa who looks a little like Death. Once she realizes that this woman is not her sister she becomes agitated and backs away from Lisa. She bumps into this man and a woman before screaming for her sister’s help.
He appears in Sandman # 41, on page 10, panel 3.
This is one of the birds searching for the stranger.
This bird appears in Sandman # 9 on page 8 in panel 4.
I am not familiar with bird species, particularly African birds and so I am unsure what type of bird appears in the published comic.
During the parliament, Kilalla wanders through the gardens. She was picking purple flowers when a group of dignitaries entered the plaza. She is greeted by Mizar, who explained that the meeting was suspended on a point of order.
This Dignitary is one of many who gathered in the plaza during the break from the meeting.
He appears in the background in Endless Nights, in the story, The Heart Of The Star, on page 11 in panel 2.
Dream and Hob began their centennial meeting, sometime between 1362-1370, I believe.
Around 1888-1889, Dream once again met Hob in a small pub in London.
As Dream approaches the door to the pub he is propositioned by a woman. She offers him a “quick bum-dance” and says she would let him give her a hard ride with his “cream-stick.” Dream declines and the woman insults him, calling him a “pasty-faced pussy-cove” and a “skinny chickaleary.”
When Dream sits down with Hob he remarks that the woman, Lushing Lou, is called “The Hospital” because she spends a lot of her time in hospitals and because she’s sent a lot of men to the hospitals because she has The Pox, which is otherwise known as Syphilis.
Lushing Lou appears in Sandman # 13, on page 21.
They each try a variety of methods to convince the Monk to leave and nothing seems to sway him.
One evening the Badger created an illusion in which an army of demons surround the temple and shout that if the Monk doesn’t flee they will eat his flesh.
The Monk exits the temple and expresses his unhappiness with these tricks and chases the “demons” away with a torch. Where the demons once stood a badger remained. The Monk threw the torch and singed the tail of the Badger.
This was the last time the Badger attempted to trick the Monk into leaving his temple.
This Demon is one of the Demons that the Badger created in order to scare away the Monk.
He appears in Sandman: Dream Hunters # 1, on page 18, in panel 4.
This Demon appears on the title page of the fourth issue.
This demon is one of the few demons that, while appearing in the Sandman Comic, does not play a part in an actual Sandman story.
I was unsure about whether this character should be included in the portraits project because he is not a specific character, or even a background character, in the actual Sandman story, I decided to include him because demons are awesome and he does appear in the published comic.
Aside from the amazing portrait, Max also drew the demon on the back of the paper and so I thought I'd include it here, since it's a fun alternate portrait.
