Like all the other serial killers in the Sandman universe, this serial killer attended the Cereal Convention.
He is standing in the background, but is easily recognizable.

Serial Killer # 12
This is one of many serial killers sitting in the audience listening to Nimrod's opening speech as the Cereal Convention begins.
The thing I really like about Scott's interpretation is that he looks like a completely normal every day person. He could be your neighbor. He could be your boss. He could be your college roommate that you haven't seen in a few years.

Serial Killer # 2
This serial killer is one of the many serial killers attending the Cereal Convention.
He can be seen talking to another serial killer telling him that the chocolate fudge whip is to kill for.
When Scott drew this character he made him way more creepy than he was in the published comic, especially in context of him liking chocolate fudge whip. I don't know why, but for some reason that makes him seem extra creepy to me.

Demon # 42
This demon is one of the demons from the fantastic double page spread where Dream and Lucifer are overlooking all the demons in Hell. He's easy to spot...he's pretty much right in the middle of the pages.
I am honestly surprised there were any demons left from these pages for Scott to paint. I thought he had drawn all of them already, but I guess there's always more demons hiding within these pages.

Scott did a fantastic job with this character. When looking at Scott's interpretation I want to know more about this character and his history as a serial killer. Who was he? Why did he kill? These are questions we will never know.

Eidolon Fine Arts
Well, it's that time of year again. It's time for San Diego Comic Con. Yep, that's right...it's the largest and probably coolest convention in the world. It's certainly the largest and coolest that I've ever been to!!!
This year Eidolon Fine Arts (located at booth 4504) has some amazing guests and four new books hot off the presses plus tons of amazing art including some beautiful Fables covers by Joao Ruas!!!
This year Joao Ruas, Jason Shawn Alexander, Shelley Wan are attending, along with Sandman artists Barron Storey and Michael Zulli. This is particularly exciting news since Michael Zulli doesn't make too many convention appearances AND he has his new book The Fracture Of The Universal Boy He will be on hand to sign copies...and man, I wish I could be there to get one!!! I have never had the pleasure of meeting either Michael or Barron and so this is a tough convention to miss for me.
Aside from the fantastic artists at Eidolon Fine Art's booth, there is also tons of top notch art from all the artists in attendance as well as some paintings by Mike Dringenberg and John Watkiss (both of which also worked on Sandman), four new books, including Jaoa Ruas' sketchbook Minion, which I'm hoping to get my hands on and did I mention Fables covers already?
Anyway go visit Eidolon Fine Arts at 4504 and tell Ryan that I said hi!!!

Interlude
Okay, so in my previous post I mentioned that there were still tons of demons left for Scott to paint.
Well, I thought this might be a good opportunity to show you just how many characters Scott still has to do before this project is finished....or until the first phase of this project is finished (since there is a new Sandman project on the horizon).
So, as of right now, here is a photo of how many characters Scott still has to paint.
Do you want to take a guess on how many that is?

Demon # 168
This demon appears on the first page of Sandman # 28.
He is the fish demon who is one of many demons returning to Hell after Remiel and Duma become the new rulers of Hell.
I am sad to say that this concludes Demon Week (which was actually a little more than two weeks). Don't worry though...we still have nearly 80 demons left and so perhaps we will do this again.
Anyway, enjoy Demon # 168!!!

Demon # 113
Okay...I think I FINALLY found this demon.
He is one of the demons who appears in the final scene of Dream and Choronzon inside the Hellfire Club. This demon is to the far right and had a long snout. He is one of the demons that is sort of difficult to spot.
Look for the demon with multiple eyes....
On an interesting side note, I was trying to find this demon in the most recent trade paperback version of Preludes And Nocturnes and I discoverered that the pages in the trades are cropped from the Absolute Edition. It's not a lot but it's enough to make it very difficult to find this character.

Demon # 88
And here's another demon from The Hellfire Club.
This demon is tucked away in the background and turned to the side so he's sort of difficult to see clearly, but Scott took control and showed us the demon's face and created a personality that really matches the rest of the demons within the Hellfire Club.

Demon # 132
Demon # 140
Now this is one of those characters I am super excited about.
This demon appears in a crowd of demons that stand before Morpheus as he is about to depart Hell.
In the original page, Dream is standing in front of the demons and we see the panel from the point of view of the "camera" behind Dream so we see his back and everything standing in front of him.
This Demon....he is standing almost directly in front of Dream and so he is partially obscured. My description of the demon was that he looked like "a Jawa with a lot of eyes" and he certainly does...from my perspective. Scott, however, took a different perspective and instead of this demon wearing a cloth robe like a Jawa he saw the demon as having a weird "Y" shaped head with huge eyes and we were only seeing half of his head in the published comic. To me, this is cool because he took a character that I had one perception of and showed his perception, which was equally as accurate as my perception. This is one of the many fun aspects of this project!!!

Demon # 103
Demon # 66
I'm sure I've mentioned this before but sometimes when I get a bunch of demon paintings from Scott if I don't immediately recognize the character I will look him up to see where he or she is in the published comics.
Well, this demon gave me a tough time. I had the exact page and panel written down and so I began my search. It took me about three minutes to find him because he blends in so well with the other demons.
This demon is in the panel when Dream sprinkles his sand in order to find who has taken his helmet. There are a lot of demons in this panel and I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of them very soon.

Demon # 173
Demon # 97
This character is going to be a bit more difficult to find because Scott took a few liberties with the character, making it better, in my opinion.
This "zombie woman" demon is in the Hellfire Club and she's standing next to a few other demons we've seen throughout Demon Week.
In the comic this female demon looks like she's decomposing a bit, which lead me to call her "zombie woman" but really she's just sort of a gray woman with puffy hair. Scott turned this demon into a truly horrifying creature, one fitting for Hell.

Demon # 130
When I get new art from Scott if the characters are not characters that I immediately recognize I always look them up on the original published pages (based on the notes I have with each character). Sometimes, like with this particular character, I am surprised I even noticed him when I made my list of characters.
This Demon is in the Hellfire Club and is hidden in the lower left corner of one of the panels. He's quietly tucked away just waiting to be discovered.
I've nicknamed this demon Coolio.

Demon # 26
Demon # 26 is one of the many demons that can be found on the awesome double page spread where Dream and Lucifer overlook a horde of demons.
I described this demon as a "blue cow demon with red eyes." If you are using the Absolute Sandman as a guide this demon is indeed blue, but if you use one of the earlier released this demon is not blue but is a light pink. While I am not really a fan of every aspect of the recoloring they did for the Absolute Editions I do like that this demon is blue....well, I like it more than when he was pink....
